EDA Dance Gala
Dedicated to the memory of
Arthur Hall

Saturday, March 10, 2000
Newport Marriot, Newport, Rhode Island

... First thanks for putting us on the alert about Arthur. It was a perfect opportunity to say a formal thank you for all he had done for dance education.

Thank you also for contributing information that I could include in the dedication. I had planned to sent you copies of the program but alas!! when I got tothe end of the concert there weren't any left. I have one copy that I could xerox and send if you would like.

We had a nice crowd for the concert. It was standing room only. The concert was as diverse as any imaginable and finished with an African Dance with LIVE drummers. They really got the audience going. The woman who taught the youngsters told me that she had Arthur as one of her first African dance teachers. It was so fitting that we closed with that piece.

Again, we thank you for making a dance concert into a living legacy.

From the letter of Helene Scheff to Mary Jane Wolbers, October 28, 2001:

Dear Mary Jane,

. . . Thank you for bringing to my attention the need to honor the memory of Arthur Hall. When I started to read your note I immediately though of dedicating the Gala to him and was pleased when I read on that it was your idea as well. . . .
